In a bid to make life easier, through technology, it appears that the human race has done more damage than good, not only to nature, but also to himself. Almost every technological innovation has come with its own problems. Come to think of it, statistics have it that, more than twenty billion pounds of toxic substances are released into the environment annually. Some of these substances have been shown to be harmful and damaging to health, while the effects of the greatest amount of these chemicals are not even known yet.

The implications of these industrial substances for the human health are there for everyone to see. What we are experiencing in the modern day can be reasonably seen as an epidemic of degenerative diseases. Several forms of cardiovascular diseases, cancers, asthma and several other conditions are on the rise; obviously, the link between the increase in toxic substances in our environment today and all these diseases can no longer be ignored.

The presence of toxic substances has been shown to be the root cause of most diseases and getting rid of these toxins in our body system is bound to ensure long lasting health. However, the increasing number of dangerous chemicals and toxins in every facet of modern life has made eliminating toxins from our system the more difficult. Toxic substances have penetrated every part of our living; the food we eat, the water we drink and even the air we breathe.

Detoxification is thus the key to health in the modern day. Since overload of toxins in the body is the underlying cause of several diseases, ridding the system of these dangerous chemicals is bound to be the most effective route towards long lasting health.

Toxins come in various forms and manners; the one unifying thing about them all is that they are dangerous to your health. The exhaust from your automobile is known to be rich in carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and medical scientists have shown that as little as 0.5% of these chemicals in the blood holds dangerous implication for health. Most of the technologically modified food you eat today contains different hormones and chemicals that interfere with normal body metabolism and in most cases, cause the system to malfunction. Metallic toxins such as mercury, lead and others can 'block' nutrients from entering cells and metabolic waste from leaving the cells, creating a favorable environment for cancer growth. Other minerals like potassium, sodium and the likes, can affect the function of the heart, when deficient or in excess and thus lead to any of the cardiovascular diseases. Well, in case you have never considered detoxification as a very healthy option, or you somehow don't believe in its efficacy, you need a serious re-think.

The basic idea behind any detoxification program is; first, identify what toxins or toxic substances are in excess in your body. Secondly, cleanse your body of these substances through any one of the various detoxification procedures. Since the presence of these toxic substances are known to cause the deficiency of several important vitamins and minerals in the body, the third step involves restoring these deficient vitamins and minerals; essentially through nutritional supplements.

Hair analysis is perhaps the best method for analyzing the presence and amount of toxins in the body, this is because the protein in the hair fiber tends to retain the composition of the body tissue for a longer period of time. Thus, analyzing the hair fiber, would give an excellent account of the different substances present in the body. There are several detoxification methods that are known to be effective in ridding your body of dangerous chemicals, depending on the type of toxic substance present in your body and another article will take a look at these alternatives. Once your body is cleansed of these toxins, finding the right supplement to restore lost vitamins and minerals shouldn't be a problem.
